A Painting A Day

In 2006 I began making one small painting every day. I maintained that schedule strictly for only a few months, but it's had an important and lasting effect on me as an artist. The very disciplined approach not only helped shape my working habits, I believe it helped me improve technically and artistically. It also led me to focus on smaller works, which have been the majority of my output since then. I currently produce on average two or three of these small paintings every week.

Although I no longer follow the Painting A Day practice literally, I certainly follow it in spirit. The daily paintings included in the gallery below document my progress as a painter over the last two years. They are arranged chronologically, from top to bottom.
