Well there’s your problem. You don’t have an intern? I have three!

Writers have to be avid readers, especially in genre fiction where you need to know what others are doing, what’s been done too much, etc. Is there an analogous activity in painting? Going to museums? And here’s a crazy question: Do we (we imaging specialists) have the ability to capture the brush strokes in a painting? Can we point a camera and some analysis gear at the Mona Lisa and determine what da Vinci did, how he worked?

Oh yeah, have to look at art ALL the time. In fact, I feel I should be looking MUCH more than I actually do.

Conservation now employs a huge amount of science/technology. I only skimmed this article, but it does look pretty good.
