The lighting is so dramatic, but the angle of view you’ve chosen makes the pool of light on the table very subtle. It’s a nice combination.

    Jeff-
I think your shadow box paintings are some of your best. Dramatic lighting always adds a mystery to the subject. Don’t you think?
I want to thank you for such an interesting and educational blog. I began experimenting with a much cruder version of a shadow box after reading your blog. Check out my attempt on my blog. (http://dailypaintingpractice.blogspot.com/
    I began posting last week.

Thanks Kris, One thing I was noticing as I painted was how little was required at this angle to suggest the shaping of the shadow.

Thanks Neelambari, it was my pleasure to visit.

Thanks Peter – I have enjoyed working with the shadow box – experimenting with new lighting situations is constantly stimulating. I’m glad my description of the box was inspirational.
