For Collectors Welcome!
In the upcoming months, I will be developing and regularly adding content to this page which I hope will be of interest and value to art collectors in general and those who collect my work in particular. In fact, I intend for this page to be the very centerpiece of my website.
Meanwhile, I’d like to invite you to look over my shoulder as I work on a commission project for a couple who want a still life that includes items important to their family life. As I progress, I will publish regular updates which will appear on this page, directly below.
The July 2017 Commission Project
Framed and Ready for Delivery
This commission is complete, framed, and ready for delivery. I can’t wait to get this into the collectors’ hands; it’s been an honor and a pleasure to do this painting for them.
One Ends, One Begins
This picture is the end point of one commission, and the beginning point of another. The frame in back is for my most recently-completed piece. I’m delivering it tonight, and am very excited to see it up on the collectors’ wall. Hopefully they will allow me to share some pictures of it in it’s final […]
At this point, the painting is largely complete. All that remains are a few details and touch-ups. These are largely concerned with harmonizing all the parts of the painting together. Once that’s done, the painting will be finished.
Completing the Central Objects
At this point, the central objects in the painting are complete. All that remains is the yellow cloth and the black credenza they rest on.
More Work on the Metal and Glass
Work is progressing on this painting. I’ve completed the cut glass vase, and am well on the way to completing the silver pitcher.
The Flower is Painted
Things are coming along with this commissioned painting. At this point, the flower is completed, and I’ve begun work on some of the metal – the silver pitcher and the bronze Thai silverware.
Getting it right
The 90 day challenge is not the only project I have going on in my studio. I’ve haven’t been posting much about them, so I wanted to make up for that with this video about the commission painting I’m currently working on. It’s a painting for a family that wanted to have objects in it […]
A Fresh Day Lily for the Painting
The star of this painting is going to be a vibrant red day lily from the collectors’ garden. It will sit in the large silver pitcher for a dramatic centerpiece. Obviously, day lilies don’t last long, so I needed to take some careful photos of it, and I also made a few color studies. Below […]
The Drawing is Complete
The drawing for the current commission is complete, and I’ve begun to paint in the background pattern.
Blank Slate for a New Commission
A Family Painting I’m excited to start a new commission today. The couple that requested it want a still life that includes objects that are important to them; sculpture and pottery their children made, family silver, items from important travels, and so on. I’m honored to do this work for them, and eager to begin. […]
Beginning a New Commission
I’m excited to be starting on a new commissioned painting. It’s requested by a couple that wanted to feature items that were important to their family life. I recently visited their home so we could discuss the painting. We worked out the items they wanted included, as well as the composition. The image above shows […]
What Collectors Are Saying
"I feel privileged to own such a beautiful work of art. It brings grace to my home, as well as feelings of warmth and peace."
"Museum quality, perfect work. Beautiful, sophisticated, and poised."
"The variety of his paintings over the years has made multiple purchases greatly satisfying. Each work is unique and awe-inspiring because his ability is transcendent."
"I’ve known Jeff and collected his work for several years now. I always look forward with great anticipation when he shows his new work at local galleries and at art shows around the Boston area. The realism he achieves is astonishing. He brings a remarkable precision and clarity to his Still Lifes, and his compositions are always thoughtful and interesting. I always stop, look, and marvel at the paintings of his that I have hanging on my walls. I am both proud and honored to have him as part of my collection."
"We have several of Jeff's paintings. While they are usually paintings of very everyday things, what he does with them is extraordinary. Reflections and light through glass are masterfully shown, and are particular examples of the 'inherent' light we see in all the things he paints, and that we love seeing in our house."
A Look At My Paintings
Here is some video from a recent exhibit, showing a large number of my paintings as they appear framed and up on the wall.
