A Fresh Day Lily for the Painting

The star of this painting is going to be a vibrant red day lily from the collectors’ garden. It will sit in the large silver pitcher for a dramatic centerpiece.
Obviously, day lilies don’t last long, so I needed to take some careful photos of it, and I also made a few color studies. Below is an image of the work in progress, along with some studies. I don’t recall why I had the study of the grapes on the easel as well, but there it is.
