"Forum No. 4"
This week’s featured painting is “Forum No. 4” from 2011. It is done with oil on panel, and measures 2 x 5 inches.
This painting takes its name from the Forum in Rome – the central plaza of the city housing important civic buildings and temples.
Called the most famous meeting place in the world, it was the center of political, legal, and business life in the city – and in fact of the Roman world.
In a playful reimagining, I placed the marbles as though they were citizens coming together in the Forum to discuss and debate the issues of the day, or perhaps at night in the case of this painting.
