90 From Life: Day 12 – Silver and Twine
This is day 12 of my 90 day challenge where I do one new painting from life each day.
Until now, most of the paintings in this series have been fairly simply, single-object studies, so today I wanted to work with a more involved composition.
The perspective for the roll of orange twine gave me a lot of trouble. Rather than just charging through, I would’ve been better served by stopping, putting down the brush, and spending 10 minutes making careful pencil sketches so I could better understand what I was looking at and how to paint it. Slowing down is often the right answer.
And… I painted myself in this one. Twice, in fact…
