90 From Life: Day 18 – Grapes on the Half Shell
This is day 18 of my 90 day challenge to do one new painting from life each day.
The subject for today’s painting is several small bunches of wild grapes arranged on a seashell.
Far from being a uniform color, each grape had many shifts in the temperature and saturation of the local color. Temperature refers to the degree to which a color appears warm or cool, and the saturation is simply the intensity of that color.
Careful attention to these variations is key to providing the illusion of reality that this type of painting aims for.
