“Impermanent”: 90 From Life – Day 60
This is day 60 of my 90 day challenge to make one new painting from life each day, and the final day of a series within a series to paint a subject I’d grown bored of – teacups – in ways that kept my interest.
Some time ago when I began tiring of painting teacups, I joked with friends that I ought to just smash one and paint the shards. That’s what I planned to do today, and approach the subject sardonically. I realized, though, that there was an opportunity to treat it with some reverence, and this is the result.
My whole working day became sort of a meditation on impermanence, and I’m grateful for it.
This video shows the whole process of making this painting – start to finish – in 3 minutes.
