Today’s Painting for You: Red Plum on Green Silk
Today’s painting for you:
“Red Plum on Green Silk”, Oil on Panel, 5×5 inches, 2013
Have you ever been curious about that white film that appears on certain fruits and vegetables? It’s called epicuticular wax, and it is indeed a wax that plants produce to coat their skins. The main function is to prevent moisture loss, and it also helps the plants remain clean, prevents insects from climbing on them, and provides protection against ultraviolet radiation from the sun.
Interesting stuff, and it’s also a whole lot of fun to paint.
I hope you enjoy it!
