Today’s Painting for You: “Silver, Wine, and Cheese”
Today’s painting for you:
“Silver, Wine, and Cheese”, Oil on Panel, 24×24 inches, 2012 (sold)
In some ways, I’d have to say this is my most ambitious painting so far. That brocaded cloth was every bit as much work as you probably imagine.
I often get asked how long it takes to produce a painting like this. That’s a hard question to answer because I usually work on multiple pieces simultaneously and don’t generally track hours for any given project. I did keep track for this one though, and it was about a month’s worth of work. This meant a very detailed drawing, a very detailed underpainting in gray, and the very detailed final layer you can see here.
Ambitious work is good for every possible reason, and it’s always healthy to raise the bar.
I hope you enjoy it!
