The Collector’s Journey A 5-day email course that helps you see your work through a collector's eyes.

For artists who want a clearer understanding of how collectors connect with artwork.

Most artists spend years learning how to make the work.

Far fewer spend time understanding how someone experiences that work, returns to it, and eventually decides they want to live with it.

The Collector’s Journey is a 5-day email course that helps you see your work through a collector’s eyes.

You’ll learn what creates attachment, what builds trust, why some pieces stay with people long after they’ve been seen, and how small changes in the way you present your work can make collecting feel more natural and accessible.

This isn’t about persuasion.

It’s about understanding the experience that turns interest into ownership.

This course is for you if:

  • You’d like a clearer understanding of what creates trust, attachment, and interest in a collector.
  • You want a better understanding of how collectors move from first encounter to ownership.
  • You’ve ever wondered why some people return to your work again and again while others move on.
  • You suspect there is more happening beneath the surface of a sale than price, timing, or visibility alone.
  • You want to see your work from the perspective of the people who eventually choose to live with it.

This course helps you understand the experience behind the decision.

What You’ll Receive

Over five days, you’ll receive one focused email each morning exploring a different stage of the collector experience.

Each lesson includes:

  • A key insight into how collectors connect with, return to, and ultimately choose artwork.
  • A practical reflection designed to help you see your own work through a collector’s eyes.
  • A simple action you can apply immediately to your website, emails, social media, or available work.
  • An optional deeper exercise for artists who want to explore the idea further.

This course is designed to help you better understand the people who eventually choose to live with your work.

Topics Include

  • What collectors are really responding to when they connect with a piece of artwork.
  • How to help people imagine what it would be like to live with your work.
  • Why some paintings stay with people long after the first encounter.
  • What creates trust and helps someone feel ready to take the next step.
  • How to create a collector experience that feels coherent, welcoming, and easy to navigate.

A Note from Jeffrey

For many years, I spent most of my attention on the work itself. How to make stronger paintings, how to improve my craft, and how to share the work more effectively. Like many artists, I assumed that if I focused on making better work and getting it in front of more people, the rest would take care of itself.

What I spent much less time considering was what happened on the other side of the relationship.

What was a collector experiencing when they encountered a painting for the first time? Why did certain pieces stay with them while others faded from memory? Why did some people return again and again before deciding to purchase?

The more I paid attention to those questions, the more I realized that collecting isn’t a single decision. It’s a process of recognition, trust, attachment, and meaning that unfolds over time.

Once I began to understand that process more clearly, many things that had once felt mysterious started to make sense. Not only why collectors purchased certain pieces, but why they returned, why they reached out, and why some works remained with them long after the initial encounter.

The Collector’s Journey grew out of that realization.

My hope is that these five days help you better understand the people who are drawn to your work, what they may be experiencing as they engage with it, and the path that eventually leads them to welcome it into their lives.
